It may be winter but that doesn’t mean that you have to stay inside by the fire. Our Winter Open Day is packed full of activities for young, old for those who enjoy the outdoors and for those who like to be inside in the warm.
Our Snowdrop Walk is in full bloom, we have several of the 19 different species of snowdrops, how many different ones can you spot?
This year we welcome the commanders of Sir Gilbert Houghton’s Companie of Foote, they will be ensconsed in our John Ray Building using the winter months to plan their part in the summer actions of King Charles I’s army.
We shall also be wassailing in our Orchard, the traditional way of chasing away the bad spirits in the trees and encouraging a good crop for the forthcoming year. Dress up warm and be prepared to get involved in making lots of noise to scare away those bad spirits.
There will be plenty of activities for children, both inside and outside and our Tea Rooms will be serving warming refreshments.
