The Seventeenth Century Cottage

View across yard from the roof

The cottage was the home of the Mr and Mrs White when John Averill was the owner of the Hall. Both were employed on the estate but it is not clear whether they were directly employed by Averill or if they worked for the tenant farmer, Mr Moulton, at New House Farm. Mr White was famously killed on his moter-cycle when crossing the A4091 from Middleton Village sometime during World War II.
