English Civil War Re-enactment
It is 1643 and Sir Gilbert Hoghton’s Companie of Foot are returning south to join the King’s forces as he continues his fight against the Parliamentarians. The Companie chooses Middleton Hall to rest at on their long march south from Lancashire to Oxfordshire. Whilst here the Companie will put its men through their paces with Company drill, Pay parade, Company training at sword, pike and musket, skirmish.
Immerse yourself in on of the most turbulent periods of our history and learn about what it was like to be a soldier and a camp follower with the help of the dedicated group of volunteers who form Sir Gilbert Hoghton’s Companie in The Sealed Knot Society. This is a small-scale re-enactment with around 20 enthusiastic and knowledgeable re-enactors taking part.
Saturday 11th May & Sunday 12th May, 11am – 4pm. Last admissions at 3pm.
£6.60 Gift Aid Adult, £6.00 Standard Adult, free for U16s and Middleton Hall & Gardens season pass holders.
We encourage visitors to make a £3 donation to park on your arrival, however, this is optional and donations of any size are welcomed. All donations go directly to the Trust to help us maintain and develop the site.
- Your entrance fee gives you access to the Hall, gardens and grounds between 11am – 4pm. If you fancy a bite to eat or want to visit the shops at The Courtyard at Middleton Hall, you can come in and out as you please, just keep hold of your admission tickets. (Coffee shop open 7 days a week, 9:30am-4:30pm, shops open Wednesday-Sunday, 10am-4pm).
- We do not offer a ‘Grounds Only’ admission fee. Access to the gardens and grounds is included in your standard admission.
- Dogs are allowed in the gardens and grounds, guide dogs only in the house.
