Sponsor a conservation hedge
£5.00 – £50.00
Choose what length of hedgerow you would like to sponsor.
This year we are going to be planting new hedgerows on our estate. Native hedgerows are really important for a range of wildlife, including small mammals, birds, bees and other insects. Not only do native hedges give wildlife a safe habitat and food all year round, they also act as safe corridors for movement.
We are going to start by planting 110m of hedgerow along our driveway as as well as being great for wildlife it turns out too that mixed native hedges like this are really good at reducing particulate pollution from roads.
By sponsoring a metre of our hedge you can help us to make our estate better for wildlife and prettier to look at for humans too. The hedge will include a variety of species which will supply us with all year round interest. There will be flowers in the spring and summer, autumn colour, and fruit, nuts and berries in the autumn and winter. The species that will be in our new hedgerow will be Hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna), Blackthorn (Prunus spinosa), Crab Apple (Malus sylvestris), Dog Rose (Rosa canina), Dogwood (Cornus sanguinea), Field Maple (Acer campestre), Guelder Rose (Viburnum opulus), Hazel (Corylus avellana), Spindle (Euonymous europaeus), Field Rose (Rosa arvensis),Wayfaring Tree (Viburnum lantana),Cherry plum (Prunus cerasifera).
