Volunteering Opportunities

Tea Room
Our tea-room is located within the Hall and is run by our hardworking volunteer team.
This would be a great way to get experience in the hospitality industry before starting work, or alternatively a way to give back to the community as all profits from the Tea Room go into funding the heritage site.
We need volunteers who can or want to learn how to work in a customer facing catering role, serving hot and cold drinks and food to our visitors.
You will need to be able to work well under pressure and as a part of a team. Volunteers must be hard working, enthusiastic and have excellent customer service skills.
.No experience in catering required – just be ready to learn!

History Research Group
There is so much yet to be discovered about Middleton Hall and Gardens, and you could be the person to help us find out!
We have a group of keen historians that work both on site and remotely researching more about the heritage site.

Tour Guide
Our tour guides take groups of visitors on guided tours of the Hall and or gardens, and grounds, sharing stories about our historic estate and the people who have lived here through the centuries.
Tours are an important part of our visitor experience as they offer a deeper insight into the estate’s history than on a self-guided visit and are often far more memorable.
Groups can book tours Wednesday – Fridays. Occasionally, there may be a tour on another day of the week.
Most tours take place in the daytime, but we occasionally offer evening tours.

Garden Volunteer
Gardens & Grounds volunteers help us maintain our beautiful, historic Gardens, including our Grade II* listed Walled Garden, Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and surrounding grounds.
Duties vary throughout the year but generally include weeding, cutting back and tidying our herbaceous borders, planting new bulbs and plants, dividing and moving older ones, pruning and training our heritage fruit trees, roses, wisteria and our established shrubs.
Propagating, growing on and re-stocking of new plants for sale in our plant sales area. Propagating and tending to vegetables grown in out produce area. Scarifying and edging lawns. Composting. Leaf collection in the autumn and general tidying tasks. Maintaining our SSSI and nature trail including path care and clearance, cutting-back undergrowth and removal of invasive species.
Thursday and/or Fridays (generally February – November).

Crafting Group
Our crafting group is made up of talented and creative volunteers, each with differing skills and stashes, Whether it is crochet, knitting, painting or paper craft, all are welcome to join the group!

All our events and garden trails are made up of handmade decorations by our talented crafters!
The craft volunteers also run a stall at our events and around Warwickshire with all profits going to the Hall!

Visitor Welcome
As a Visitor Welcome Volunteer, you will often be the first face our visitors seen on arrival to Middleton Hall & Gardens and the last person they see before they depart. Therefore, it is important that you are an excellent representative of our organisation and contribute to ensuring visitors have the best possible experience with us.
Middleton Hall & Gardens opens Wednesday - Sunday between March and October and closes during the winter with the exception of special events.
Visitor Experience volunteers primarily work on Visitor Reception welcoming visitors, selling tickets, supervising the small gift shop area, handing out maps and orientating people around the estate.
The people make the place, so it is the responsibility of all our volunteers to make visitors feel welcome and encourage them to come back and tell their friends about us.
